Night of Champions 2012 Theme: "Champions" + Poster

Here is the 2012 WWE Night of Champions Poster, and guess who is on the cover...

On your left, 13-time (or something like that) World Champion John Cena.

On your right, the current WWE Champion, since November 2011, CM Punk.

Either Punk's 10 month reign as champ will continue or Cena will become champion for first time since this event last year.

DREDD 3D presents Night of Champions on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 8:00 ET on PPV
From Cena's home arena, the TD Garden from Boston, MA.

Here is your official theme for Night of Champions 2012, "Champions" by Kevin Rudolf feat. Limp Bizkit, Birdman and Lil Wayne

  • Vengeance (2002-2003)
  • Great American Bash (2005-2008)
  • Night of Champions (2008; was in June, but I missed it last month (my bad))
  • Money in the Bank (2010-2012)
Vengeance 2002
Joe Louis Arena, Detroit, MI
Theme: Downfall by Trust Company

Rating: 8 out of 10
It's a great theme for this PPV, I like it and flows well.

Vengeance 2003
Pepsi Center, Denver, CO
Theme: Price to Play by Staind

Great American Bash 2005
HSBC Arena, Buffalo, NY
Theme: Pay the Price by Eric and the Hostiles

Rating: 3 of 10
This doesn't say Great American Bash to me...

Great American Bash 2006
Conseco Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, IN
Theme: Lonely Train by Black Stone Cherry

Rating: 6 of 10
Good Song, but doesn't fit the style of the Great American Bash

Great American Bash 2007
HP Pavilion, San Jose, CA
Theme: The Church of Hot Addiction by Cobra Starship

Rating: 9 of 10
Now, this is a great song for this PPV, it flows...

Great American Bash 2008
Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Uniondale, NY
Theme: Move to the Music by American Bang

Rating: 9 of 10
See prior rating...

Night of Champions 2008
American Airlines Center, Dallas, TX
Theme: Devour by Shinedown

Money in the Bank 2010
Sprint Center, Kansas City, MO
Theme: Money by I Fight Dragons

Rating: 8 of 10
The real "Money in the Bank" theme...

Money in the Bank 2011 and 2012
Allstate Arena, Chicago, IL and US Airways Center, Phoenix, AZ
Theme: Money by Jim Johnston

Rating: Lazy of 10.
Ok, you are probably wondering what the hell Lazy means on the scale. Since WWE is to Lazy to give us a real theme song, I'm too Lazy to give this a rating. Don't like it? It doesn't matter if you don't like it?!

With that said, I will see you next month, where simplicity is back with nothing but themes from the "Biggest Blockbuster Party of the Summer", the 25th anniversary of the classic, Los Angeles Wrestling Classic (oops, I meant...)

Until then...stay classy, my friends...

The Slam Diary: Sound of the Squared Circle- The June PPV's

In my opinion, this is one of the best month's for PPV's and themes and is why I had so much fun doing this "Sounds of the Squared Circle for the June PPV's, which there have been 10 different PPV's in 10 years:

  • King of the Ring (June 2002- last King of the Ring on PPV)
  • Bad Blood (June 2003-2004, rebirth of old PPV where 1st Hell in a Cell match took place, RAW branded)
  • Great American Bash/The Bash (June 2004, rebirth, former NWA/WCW PPV and June 2009, final until SmackDown special in 2012)
  • One Night Stand: Extreme Rules (June 2007-2008, evolved from ECW One Night Stand)
  • Extreme Rules (June 2009, evolved from (you guessed it) One Night Stand: Extreme Rules, moved to April in 2010.)
  • Vengeance/Night of Champions (June 2005-2008)
  • Fatal 4-Way (June 2010, only PPV)
  • No Way Out (June 2012, rebirth, was February PPV from 1999-2009, replaced by Elimination Chamber)
June 2004's Great American Bash had a theme that, to this day, no one knows. You'll see...

June 2011's PPV, Capitol Punishment, had a production theme and thus will not be counted in the countdown...

So now that you know the PPV, let's move to the music...

June 2002
10th Annual King of the Ring
Nationwide Arena- Columbus, OH
Theme: Ride of Your Life-Neurotica

Rating: 7
For it's time period, its a great song. The Rock returns, Lesnar wins King of the Ring and Taker vs the Game. The Ride of Your Life.

June 2003
Bad Blood
Compaq Center, Houston, TX
Theme: Headstrong by Trapt

Rating: 9
This was a great PPV theme. Doesn't it just make you wanna fight?

June 2004

Bad Blood
Nationwide Arena, Columbus, OH
Theme: Sold Me by Seether

Rating: 6
I like the song, but you are following up the previous 2 with this? Stiff Competition...

Great American Bash
Norfolk Scope, Norfolk, VA
Theme: Do you know?

June 2005
Vengeance
Thomas and Mack Center, Las Vegas, NV
Theme: Happy by Mudvayne

Rating: 9.5
The only reason that this doesn't get a 10, is that there is one other song in this countdown that deserves the 10.

June 2006
Vengeance
Charlotte Bobcats Arena (now Time Warner Cable Arena), Charlotte, NC
Theme: Victim by Eighteen Victims

Rating: 7
Great for the era and the Return of DX...awesomeness...

June 2007
One Night Stand: Extreme Rules
Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, Jacksonville, FL
Theme: Famous by Puddle of Mudd

Rating: 10
In my opinion, the best theme to fit a PPV. Period.

Vengeance: Night of Champions
Toyota Center, Houston, TX
Theme: Gone by Fuel

Rating: 9
This sadly fits this PPV. Great PPV but will be forever overshadow by the man we knew as Chris Benoit. (And no, I am not about to get into that argument)

June 2008
One Night Stand: Extreme Rules
San Diego Sports Arena, San Diego, CA
Theme: Hell Yeah by Rev Theory

Rating: 8
If this fits like a charm, give me a Hell Yeah!

June 2009
Extreme Rules
New Orleans Arena, New Orleans, LA
Theme: You're Going Down by Sick Puppies

Rating: 9.5
Its the same reason for Vengeance 2005.

The Bash
ARCO Arena, Sacramento, CA
Theme: Whyyawannabringdown by Aranda

Rating: 8
It fits very nicely, its like a party type theme.

June 2010
Fatal 4-Way
Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Uniondale, NY
Theme: Showstopper by TobyMac

Rating: 7
Only reason it doesn't get higher is that it doesn't really fit the PPV.

June 2012
No Way Out
IZOD Center, Newark, NJ
Theme: Unstoppable by Charm City Devils

Rating: 9
This was a perfect theme for No Way Out to return to, and a overall good PPV.

Stay tuned for next month's countdown and the rest of your sports news and follow us on Facebook!

The Slam Diary: Money In The Bank Preview and Predictions Sure to Go Wrong,,,

We are back after a hiatus to concentrate on the radio side of things, it's JP to give you a preview of this Sunday's Money In The Bank PPV! MITB comes to you from the US Airways Center in Phoenix, AZ on PPV at 8pm.

1. World Heavyweight Championship Money In The Bank Ladder Match
Intercontinental Champ Christian, Damien Sandow, Tensai, U.S. Champ Santino Marella, Tyson Kidd, Dolph Ziggler, Cody Rhodes and Sin Cara

This match has so many different possible outcomes. Dolph Ziggler is ready for a push for the Main Event. This could be his launching point. Cody Rhodes and Christian are both great choices to get the case as well. Marella did give the match of his career at the Elimination Chamber PPV earlier this year, but can he really be taken serious as a contender for the title? Then you have the curious cases of Damien Sandow and Tyson Kidd. Kidd, a former Tag title holder as a member of the Hart Dynasty, has never really had singles success, but Vince is up on him, this is opportunity knocks for him. Then, in Sandow's case, it could be what Sheamus went through in 2009. Sheamus wins "Breakthrough Battle Royal", and beats Cena at TLC to when the title. Could this be the plan for Sandow?

Winner: Dolph Ziggler

2. WWE Championship Money In The Bank Ladder Match (Only former WWE Champs allowed)
Chris Jericho, Big Show, John Cena and Kane

Jericho: Made the Match for goodness sake!

Show: Everyone in way got KO'd

Cena: Superman in a Green Shirt, enough said.

Kane: Do you really wanna cross him the wrong way?

Winner: I want to say Jericho, but knowing creative, I pick Cena.

3. WWE Championship: CM Punk (c) vs Daniel Bryan (AJ is special guest ref)

What a perfect storm this is: AJ is about as crazy as they come, D-Bry is rolling and CM Punk is lights out. Now put all 3 in a ring with the WWE Title on the line. I promise: Chaos WILL ensue.

Winner: I have no freaking clue.

4. World Heavyweight Championship: Sheamus (c) vs Alberto Del Rio

This picture says what I think of this match:

Winner: Sheamus

Remember that MITB goes on Sunday night at 8 on PPV, and stay with us on FB (Meeting of the Minds, Sports Minds That Is), or follow us on Twitter: Jack @jp_mediamvp and Matt @MattRaider182!

Always remember...

And you just got slammed...

Sounds of the Squared Circle: The May PPV's

Round 2 of the Sounds of the Squared Circle countdown brings us to the May PPV's...being Judgment Day and Over the Limit! Judgment Day was a different PPV, as from 2003 to 2005, production themes were used as official themes. Which means there was a huge gap from "Broken" (by 12 Stones) in 2002 to "This Fire Burns" (by Killswitch Engage) in 2006. But some good songs have come from Judgment Day and Over the Limit have been on point since its debut in 2010. Let's check them out!

Judgment Day 2002
Gaylord Entertainment Center, Nashville, TN
Theme: "Broken" by 12 Stones

Rating: 8 of 10
I really love this theme, it really jelled with the new direction "Ruthless Aggression", and worked flawlessly with the theme of the PPV.

Judgment Day 2006
US Airways Center, Phoenix, AZ
Theme: "This Fire Burns" by Killswitch Engage

Rating: 8 of 10
Ok, this screams...Judgment Day! And its CM Punk's first theme in WWE?! Case closed.

Judgment Day 2007
Scottrade Center, St. Louis, MO
Theme: "I Don't Wanna Stop" by Ozzy Osbourne

Rating: 6 of 10
It's a good song and all, but I mean, does it really say Judgment Day to you?

Judgment Day 2008
Qwest Center, Omaha, NE
Theme: "Take it All" by Zididada

Rating: 2 of 10
Who in the F&%# decided it was a good idea to make this a theme more suited for the Great American Bash or something, a theme on Judgment Day?! What are they on? Remember kids, "Crack is whack!"

Judgment Day 2009
Allstate Arena, Rosemont (Chicago), IL
Theme: "Rescue Me" by Buckcherry

Rating: 5 of 10
It's better than that Zididada BS last year...

Over The Limit 2010
Joe Louis Arena, Detroit, MI
Theme: "Crash" by Fit For Rivals

Rating: 7.5

Pretty Good, better than most themes...

Over The Limit 2011
KeyArena, Seattle, WA
Theme: "Help Is On The Way" by Rise Against

Rating: 7.5
See previous theme.

Over The Limit 2012
PNC Arena at NC State University, Raleigh, NC
Theme: "War of Change" by Thousand Foot Krutch

Rating: 10 out 10
I honestly don't why, but this was the absolute perfect theme for this PPV, and WWE Music is on a roll in 2012, Royal Rumble (Dark Horses), Extreme Rules (Adrenaline) and now this has 3 of 4 (excluding 'Mania) good themes to start 2012.

Alright, May's countdown is up, but its June 2, so after No Way Out, we will have your June edition of the "Sounds of the Squared Circle", and this one will be a douzee with King of the Ring, Bad Blood, Vengeance (I think), the Great American Bash (I think), One Night Stand, Extreme Rules, and I probably missed a couple too. But until then, like the Facebook!

And you just got slammed!...

The Slam Diary: Sounds of the Squared Circle- The April PPV's

After a 3 month delay, The Slam Diary is finally debuting the "Sounds of the Squared Circle" countdown, counting down all PPV Themes from a certain month! And April is on deck first and we will look at the themes from Backlash (2002-2009) and Extreme Rules (2010-2012), in chronological order, and give you our takes on them according to these guidelines:

  • Is it a good song?
  • How does it fit with the theme of the PPV?
  • Mainstream Success
With that being said, here we go!

Backlash 2002
Kemper Arena, Kansas City, KS
Theme: "Young Grow Old" by Creed

Jack: Rating- 5 out of 10
It's a good song, but didn't really fit the PPV. Especially when the prior month's WrestleMania had "Superstar" by Saliva and "Tear Away" by Drowning Pool.

Backlash 2003
Worcester Centrum, Worcester, MA
Theme: "Remedy" by Cold

Jack: Rating- 6
It definitely isn't the most mainstream song, but this song fits right in with WWE at this time: Ruthless Aggression.

Backlash 2004
Rexall Place, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Theme: "Eyes Wired Shut" by Edgewater

Jack: Rating- 6
See last review...

Backlash 2005 (May 1)
Verizon Wireless Arena, Manchester, NH
Theme: "Stronger" by Trust Company

Jack: Rating- 7
This song fits with the angle at the time, Batista vs Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Backlash 2006
Rupp Arena, Lexington, KY
Theme: "Baby Hates Me" by Danko Jones

Jack: Rating- 5
I like this song, but this song doesn't fit with the tradition of Backlash.

Backlash 2007
Philips Arena, Atlanta, GA
Theme: "There and Back Again" by Chris Daughtry

Jack: Rating- 9
This song fit the era, fit the environment, fit everything about this PPV.

Backlash 2008
1st Mariner Arena, Baltimore, MD
Theme: "All Summer Long" by Kid Rock

Jack: Rating- 5
It's another case of good song, but does it really fit Backlash?

Backlash 2009
Dunkin' Donuts Center, Providence, RI
Theme: "Seasons" by The Veer Union

Jack: Rating- 10
This is fits it all, hits every criteria, and it's a damn good song!

Extreme Rules 2010
1st Mariner Arena, Baltimore, MD
Theme: "Time to Shine" by Saliva

Jack: Rating- 8
With statement wins by Sheamus and Jack Swagger, I'd say this song fits!

Extreme Rules 2011 (May 1)
St. Pete Times Forum, Tampa, FL
Theme: "Justice" by Rev Theory

Jack: Rating- 7
I like the song, but outside of Osama dying, what justice was there?

Excuse the Spanish Version, it was the best on YouTube...

Extreme Rules 2012
Allstate Arena, Rosemont, IL
Theme: "Adrenaline" by Shinedown

Jack: Rating- 8
Very fast paced night, Lesnar/Cena stole the show and we saw BLOOD! I should give it a 10 off that alone...I need a shot... of that sweet adrenaline!

Join us as Matt (whose probably in some Northeast GA hospital after the Hawks performance tonight) and I  bring you another "Sounds of the Squared Circle", the May PPV's are up next, Judgment Day and Over the Limit!
