8) Christian vs. Alberto Del Rio in a Ladder Match for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship

In a matchup caused by Christian's best friend, The "Rated R Superstar", Edge's sudden retirement, "Peeps" were able to cheer extremely loud as Captain Charisma finally became world champion, against Edge's WrestleMania 27 opponent no less. Still get emotional every time I watch this.

7) Mick Foley vs. Intercontinental Champ Randy Orton in a No Holds Barred Match

Backlash 2004- Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

If his match vs. Shawn Michaels at Unforgiven the previous year didn't do it, this match put Randy Orton over, and yes, I do like the "Legend Killer" over the "Viper/Apex Predator" any day.

Man, I tell ya, Cena was unstoppable these days...

WWE Extreme Rules: Early Need to Know

Well we are finally back and we should be up at full power now! This is some quick info for our next WWE PPV, Extreme Rules.

The one night a year that the WWE goes extreme takes place April 29 from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL (Chicago basically). This year, the "Big Red Machine", Kane graces the poster for Extreme Rules.

The theme for this years' event is "Adrenaline" by Shinedown...

And so far we have John Cena, reeling from his WrestleMania loss vs. The Rock taking on this man:

All I can say for the Cenation is "Here Comes the Pain!"

And remember to check in as we head towards Chicago in 2 weeks, you guys do remember what happened last time we were there, right?

Several Projects On Deck for MOSM blog...

Many of you may have been wondering why we have been off the blog the last couple of weeks. Here's a couple reasons:

Time to End the Misconception: What the WWE is All About From a Fan's View

This is something I thought I would have to do eventually, and that time has come. Here are a few tips to learn the ropes of the WWE.

1. When a wrestling fan refers to the "attitude era", he or she is referring to the late 90's and early 2000's in the WWE. This is generally referred to as the greatest era in WWE history. This is where Stone Cold, The Rock, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker and Kane were the top stars.

2. When a wrestling fan is talking about technical wrestlers, look at wrestlers such as Daniel Bryan and CM Punk.

3. Number one way to piss a fan off: To say wrestling is fake. Watch these videos, and tell a fan if wrestling is fake. But, I warn you, I am not responsible for the ensuing argument/fight/combination of the two.

4. When a fan refers to a "shoot," this is what we mean:

5. There are 3 types of entrance themes:

1: Mainstream Music- The music you hear on the radio at anytime, such as The Miz's theme, "I Came to Play" by Downstait.

2. Indy Music- Songs that are produced by little-known artists, such as Christian's theme, "Just Close Your Eyes" by Story of the Year.

3. WWE produced music- Music produced by WWE's music director, Jim Johnston, such as the Undertaker's old theme during his "American Bad Ass/Big Evil" era, "You're Gonna Pay."

6. Pay-per-views: It can truly provide memorable moments...

1. The Theme Music- Yes, there's music for this too. The music typically coincides with the theme of the PPV. Perfect Example, Last Year's Survivor Series, celebrating it's 25th anniversary at New York's Madison Square Garden. The theme was "Good Feeling" by Flo Rida.

2. The Tagline- The theme behind the PPV. For example, SummerSlam is considered one of the "Big Four" PPV's (WrestleMania, Royal Rumble and Survivor Series are the other three) and in 2006 had the tagline as "The Biggest Party of the Summer," with several promos behind it.

3. The Match Card and Promo- This is where the hype is built up for the PPV. One of my favorite match cards was from the 2003 Royal Rumble, which started the Road to WrestleMania 19. The theme song was "Falling Apart" by Trust Company.

On the flip side, one of the best promos done for a PPV was in 1998 at the Rock Bottom. This was for the Stone Cold vs. Undertaker Buried Alive match.

4. The PPV Intro- Once you get the PPV, this sets the tone for the night. A couple of good examples are from Backlash 2005 (theme: "Stronger" by Trust Company) and Vengeance 2005 (theme: "Happy" by Mudvayne).

5. The Main Event- This is self-explanatory.

7. When we refer to the "PG Era," this is the BS we are talking about:

(Before this past Monday's RAW, this was the last RAW I missed (this was 10.31. 2011) and this maybe the only RAW I have ever intentionally missed)

8. The era we are in is the "Reality Era" which started after this: (exception of the Muppets night)

9. The last era a beginning fan needs to know is the "Ruthless Aggression" era.

10. The most important thing a WWE fan knows: WrestleMania is "The Showcase of the Immortals."

I hope this brought a newfound understanding of the events millions around the world love so much.

The Latest Twitter War: "Chris Breezy" vs. "The Voice of the Voiceless"

If you haven't heard by now, multi-time award winning artist Chris Brown (@chrisbrown) and current WWE champion CM Punk (@cmpunk) have engaged in a Twitter War.

Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, started the war Monday, claiming that he wanted to "curb stomp" Brown, and that would be a "WrestleMania moment." Brown replied in a tweet, saying that Punk "needs more followers. He's such a leader! Not to mention the roids hes on has made it utterly impossible for him pleasure a women." In another tweet, Brown also sarcastically says for Punk to call Brown's assistant so he could send Punk an autographed picture to "his biggest FAN!"


The topic of conversation surrounds Brown's 2009 felony assault charge against former girlfriend, Rihanna. Brown did 200 hours of community service and was placed on probation for several years. 


The assault recently came back into the news as Brown and Rihanna collaborated on two songs that debuted on radio this week. 


The war continued today, as CM Punk posted an explosive rebuttal on his Twitter account:

Brown retaliated, going to his Twitter during tonight's live edition of Smackdown on Syfy, talking about how defensive he [Punk] was being and he didn't know who he was. He also referenced that he hoped his "15 minutes of fame" would pay off for him as music lasts forever, but wrestlers "come and go according to ratings." Brown also said that he missed some wrestlers, such as "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, Bret "The Hitman" Hart, Koko B. Ware, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, adding the hashtag #notnopunks. 


Brown's last tweet of Tuesday night said that it would be the last time he would bring up CM Punk, stating, "The confrontations that people continuously bring my way are very amusing. Cuz honestly, that [expletive] is too time consuming to argue wit every person who has their own issues to deal with!"


However, it was Punk, who would speak last, with one last tweet for Tuesday, simply saying "#aintawomanbeater".

Paying Homage to One of the Greatest of All Time: Joe Paterno

I didn't want to write about this, due to my strong emotions on this topic, but I'd be remiss if I didn't. Today, we lost one of the greatest, if not THE greatest coach of all time in Joe Paterno. Paterno didn't just coach at Penn State. For almost a half a century, HE was Penn State. No one has won more games than him. Only Amos Alonzo Stagg coached as many games, in fact, they're tied. He had 3 undefeated teams, knocked off the goliath that was "The U" for a national title.
I could go on and on and on about "Joe Pa" and his on field accomplishments, but what will forever endear him to State College, PA was his love to Pennsylvania State University. Forget Brown University, the Ivy League school he attended, his alma mater, the man had donated millions to the improvements to PSU's library and academic departments. Not to mention, being an example of a great man to every athlete that strapped on the blue and white and played inside of Beaver Stadium. Over 300 of his players signed NFL contracts. Most comeback to finish their degrees.
Most would have loved for Joe to coach as long as he wanted. He loved Penn State and students and alumni loved him back. Joe lived right down the street from the stadium. Not in some gigantic mansion in the suburbs of Pittsburgh or Philadelphia. He was a part of "Happy Valley." Hell, he MADE "Happy Valley."
Yet what Joe loved so much, Penn State, is what led to the events today and why I even writing this post. Without a doubt, what Jerry Sandusky, the man who was once tabbed to be head coach after Paterno retired, did is absolutely inexcusable and will probably spend a long time in jail for it. But at this point, the board of trustees at Penn State should be following Sandusky to the cell. I can understand the need to make change, but the way it was done, to fire a man who gave this university his life after college, who brought so much good to the university, because his higher UPS didn't open their mouths after he reported what happened to them? You didn't just fire the man...you signed his death warrant. When you take the one thing that a man loves away, whether it be a wife, a job, a home, what does he live for afterwards? The thing is, the man typically doesn't live much longer. And in Paterno's case, he had two of the three taken from him. Someone said on SportsCenter (I believe it was Lou Holtz) today that once he was fired, he wouldn't live six months. They were wrong. He didn't make it three.
But his legacy shall not be tarnished by what happened the last four months of 2011. His legacy is DEFINED by the 40+ years before that as the head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions.
So Joseph Vincent Paterno, you may finally rest in peace. No one wanted you to leave, but now you can lead God's team to the National Championship in the sky. I don't think there is a argument, you were, are and always will be the greatest coach in college football.
Rest in Peace, Joe Pa. You touched so many lives. You've done so much. Thank You may never be enough, but for lack of a better term, Thank You.
